The idea is to provide a moving blurred shadow updated in near realtime over a high resolution background that is continuously updated, like a long exposure picture. The result should be enough information to get a clue about presence in a room without the visitor in that room feeling observed too much, in such a way that he/she would agree to trade some but not to much intimacy in order to signal his/her presence.
