A place to ventMay 2008
A couple of month ago I bought a Bluetooth audio transmitter. It makes it possible to connect my PC to my Hifi system remotely. The two part device from Thomson is made of a USB transmitter (WBT430, from Jensen) to plug on the PC and a receiver to plug of the audio in jacks of the Hifi system. It needs no driver, supposedly. When plugged, a new audio device is listed in the sound preferences of Windows. I use Winamp to render the music on that device. This is nice. When it works! Very often after a reboot it does not work, the USB device goes unrecognized... If I keep trying to plug/unplug it, sometimes, after a while, it works. December 2007
http://dyndns.org is cool, when it works. It provides a service to assign a dynamic ip address to a fixed domain name. For example: http://jhr.dyndns.org:8080/ -- This sometimes point to the POW web server running in my Firefox instance. "Sometimes". I have had problems recently. I used to update the ip address in dyndns using a dyndns client, DeeEnEs. But I noticed today that the Dyndns address had not been updated for two days. That the second time that I notice this. So, I am giving another try to my Cisco/Linksys AM200 ADLS modem/router built-in support for Dyndns. Let's see if it works better now that it did in the past. |
